“When looking at our footage we wanted to display the various subcultures involved within London showing elements of todays different lifestyles. Our footage involving these subcultures maintained a 1st person style to the filming, this added with the colorful effects helped greatly when creating ‘trippy’ visual aspect.”

  8. Still taken from Mollie Mills’ contribution to Orange Dot: Touch and Vision at Undercurrent. The short film is called “T is for Teenhood”.
“This piece looks at how our language and frame of reference adapts as we make the transition from childhood through to teenhood. The idea of your ‘ABC’ is largely associated with being a child so I asked 26 teenagers to give me an alphabet of words they associate with their life now. Youth are constantly being labeled and defined by others within the media. These visuals were a chance for these teenagers to reclaim their label, reappropriating a childhood past time to redefine themselves through their own words. Combining all these words, these visuals create a unique alphabet that defines these adolescents’ identities. Using a mixture of stock footage and footage from my own archives of life in London, T is for Teenhood is a snapshot of what’s at the forefront of teen’s minds today.”
